This script gives you the ability to create fast, easy cities inside of Blender! The first thing to note is that it’s a more of a script than an add in – you open it up and run it and it takes buildings you select and generates cities from them (or uses the built-in city objects.) The second thing to note is that it’s only a $7 script, so it’s not super expensive and is a great way to quickly generate cities for backgrounds, concepts, etc

Step 1 – important – when you open the file, you need to go into the text file and click the “Text” button and “Run Script.” This is so the script will show up in your search bar. Then, to run the script, hit the F3 button to search and look for “city,” which will allow you to open the city scatter menu.

By default, I believe the free version scatters a number of placeholder models, while the paid version comes with the detailed models seen in this scene. When you first run the script, you get a menu inside of blender – the rectangular one looks like this. It allows you to adjust the seed, the name of the group inside which the models you want to scatter are, the length and width of the city, and the cell, which lets you set the spacing between the objects.

There’s also an option to set if the buildings get spaced randomly or in a grid shape. The grid will place your buildings in a straight line, while the random spacing will not Note that you can also add your own custom buildings by adding them to the collections added by the script, or by creating your own! In addition, there’s also an option to do a circular scatter as well, which allows you to place larger buildings in the center, and smaller buildings around the perimeter.
